Welcome to your learning journey!
About me
Hi, I’m Kathleen Benmore, a qualified maths teacher and experienced tutor based in North London. I support secondary school students — from Year 7 up to GCSE and A-level — to build confidence, improve their understanding, and achieve their best in maths.
My path into teaching began after completing a BEng in Materials Engineering at the University of Sheffield, followed by three years working in the engineering industry. But I soon discovered that what I enjoyed most was helping others learn and grow — which led me to retrain as a teacher in 2020.
I completed my in-school teacher training with ASTRA Teaching Hub and Dr Challoner’s Grammar School, where I went on to teach maths to students aged 11–18 until 2023. After that, I moved to Australia and worked at Lauriston Girls' School in Melbourne as an integration aide, supporting a student with severe autism and ADHD to complete her A-levels (including maths), and leading small group maths sessions within the school. I also tutored students privately during my time in Australia.
Now that I’ve returned to London, I’ll be rejoining Dr Challoner’s Grammar School in September 2025 to continue teaching maths part-time (Tuesdays to Thursdays). This flexible schedule allows me to focus on one-to-one maths tutoring, where I can provide truly personalised support tailored to each student’s goals and learning style.
I'm particularly passionate about helping students for whom maths doesn’t come naturally — especially those working hard to pass their GCSEs. That’s why I offer resit support as part of my tutoring services, designed to build both skills and confidence in a supportive environment.
Whether you or your child needs help catching up, is preparing for exams, or simply wants to feel more confident in maths, I offer a calm, encouraging, and structured approach — helping students understand not just what to do, but why it works.
I am currently based in Maida Vale and offer a mixture of face-to-face or online tutoring depending on your location and preference.
I’d be happy to speak with you in a free 15-minute consultation to learn more about how I can help.
